This will depend very much the information we share at the initial consultation, if you have experienced real hypnosis before then the process can be accelerated. However for many this is their first experience of hypnosis and as such I will be very aware of expectations. I tailor each and every session to meet the needs of the individual, however the basic process is as follows.

You will be asked to make yourself comfortable and to follow the simple instructions that I give you and a state of hypnosis will be induced. I use modern hypnotic inductions (no swinging watches or blinking eyeglasses are used). These inductions are relaxing and efficient and allow more time to help you to attain your goals.

When you are safely and comfortably in a calm state of focused awareness, positive, beneficial ideas and suggestions are made which enhance your ability to make the changes that you wish to make. If appropriate, deeper explorations can be made using techniques to discover and relieve hidden causes of inner conflicts. (Hypnoanalysis).

The beneficial ideas and suggestions that are used in your session will have been carefully prepared to address the specific issues that you have brought to therapy. When applied in hypnosis, they are easily absorbed and acted upon by your inner mind. At the end of the session you will be guided back into normal waking consciousness feeling refreshed and alert. Knowing that the process of change is taking place at an unconscious level.

Although it is true to say that often the effect of the session is immediate and very dramatic, the depth of the change usually becomes apparent over time and is re-enforced by repetition. So the number and frequency of sessions is adjusted to meet individual need. All sessions are conducted in accordance with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and International Certification Board of Clinical Hypnosis guidelines and codes of ethics.
